Our Value To Sports Clubs

The benefits we bring to sports clubs are:

  • more members (in line with and supporting the targets of the numerous National Governing Bodies of sport)
  • increased profile in the local community
  • opportunities for knowledge-sharing with other community clubs, to ensure best practice gets shared
  • recognition of the volunteers that run local sports clubs for their hard work and contribution to the community
  • we also espouse the benefits of linking with the relevant National Governing Bodies

We've worked with numerous community based sports clubs in three London Boroughs, including:
Goalball, Javelin, Basketball, American Football, Lacrosse, Volleyball, Badminton, Track Cycling, Gymnastics, Boccia, Tennis, Trampoline, Shot-put, Hockey, Wheelchair Basketball, Kendo, Sprinting, Lawn Bowls, Beach Volleyball, Rugby, Cricket, Taekwondo, Softball, Discus, Long Jump, Football, Jujutsu, Bouldering/Climbing, Baseball, Rowing

Evidence from the Beach Volleyball Club, Hackney:

"As an Olympic sport for the 2012 London Olympics, I have been surprised how difficult it has been to encourage people in East London to get involved in Beach Volleyball. The SportInspired Community Games gives a way for our sport, which is not main-stream, to be tried by many local people who wouldn't normally get that opportunity...

As anyone who has tried to develop grass-roots sport will know it is not easy trying to attract new members. The SportInspired Community Games directly helps us to do so... we get to show-case our sport and thereby raise the profile of our club in the local community... More importantly... the participants (which are both young people and adults) all actually try it out as part of the competition...

Most of the people who take part in the Community Games have never played Beach Volleyball before (especially young people), and at the end of each match played we make sure the participants know when to come along to our club to play again if they have enjoyed it. We have then gained new members as a direct consequence from taking part in the Community Games.... Furthermore, SportInspired will also be putting us in direct contact with the key people in the local schools and youth clubs so we can maintain that direct link"
