Our Value to You and Your Community
We help local people bring to life big festival- like, multi- sports events that:
- attract and inspire young people who are looking for something different to do,
- make healthy living more socially desirable and allow the local community to take part in activities that they might not have considered or thought they could afford,
- increase access to local sports clubs and services, dispelling the perceptions that they don't exist or require a lot of disposable income,
- create opportunities for adults in the community to interact with young people on a different level
and help young people feel less demonised and disengaged from their community,
- offer positive recognition for the people who are involved, overcoming some of the negative images of young people or the economically depressed,
- provide a group of local (especially young) people with the opportunity to take responsibility for an event that will offer ownership and a sense of inclusion in their community (we've seen this lead to a virtuous cycle of positive peer pressure, creating a willingness to protect and enjoy events, rather than shun them),
- allows young people who do not necessarily ‘fit’ into the higher- profile sports club model to get together and enjoy sports.
We help break down barriers, especially between:
- the 'white collar workers' of the city and the young people of London - both seeing the 'human face' of the other,
- able-bodied sport and less-able bodied sport - increasing respect for people of diverse backgrounds,
- lower-profile sports and local communities - creating the opportunity for people to broaden their sporting horizons,
- young people divided by post codes - allowing young people to see the 'human face' of others from different areas.
