Set in the beautiful Berkshire countryside, at Beale Park, a renowned and stunning wild swimming location. If you’re not participating, you can still enjoy the surroundings while supporting your competing friends and family. The event is being held on Saturday 24th June 2023, 8am - 8pm. “With stunning countryside as the setting, everyone’s contribution counts, bringing together highly committed athletes with those who prefer recreational sport, into outstanding teams.” How it works Teams choose their own strategy for who does what and in what order. Individual participants can do any number of legs, from just one in a single discipline to many across all three disciplines. Each team must complete 15 legs and 200km: 10 kilometres of wild swimming (5 legs of 2 kms) 40 kilometres of running (4 legs of 10 kms) 150 kilometres of cycling (6 legs of 25 kms) 12 of the 15 legs must be done consecutively, starting at 8am. The remaining 3 legs can be done at any time during the day, with 2 team members 'doubling up' (doing legs at the same time). All teams must finish by 8pm, with music and awards immediately at the end. If you finish the 200 kms & 15 legs before 8pm, you can just relax, or continue until 8pm and compete for the additional trophies of ‘Furthest Travelled Team’, or ‘Most Generous Team’. We want every team to finish. Teams needing extra flexibility to complete the 15 legs and 200km in 12 hours, are welcome to have it. You may choose to: 1) 'Double up' on more than 3 legs. 2) Substitute 1 or more legs from 1 discipline for another (while still undertaking all 3 disciplines). 3) Accept 1 or more 'donated' legs by another team. However you enter you are guaranteed to have a fun and challenging time while raising important funds for children in poverty. What does the Thames200 seek to achieve? 1. With the cost-of-living crisis, schools and families will have no choice but to cut back on grass roots sports funding, and we can help fill the gap. 2. All proceeds from the Thames200 2023 will go to SportInspired, a national charity helping children living in poverty discover and enjoy their favourite sports. Why not make a weekend of it?
