Swan Housing Association partnered with SportInspired in 2018 to launch a new programme to benefit the residents in the Beechwood Estate in Baildon. The shared objectives were to inspire residents to improve their health, skills, and wellbeing, and to create a stronger sense of community.

The Basildon Community Games inspired 176 children to try new and exciting sports, such as parkour and kungfu.  SportInspired then converted the inspiration from the festival day into long-tern impact by setting up one new club in each participating primary school.

As a result of this programme, eight residents in the community gained sports coaching qualifications in boxing, futsal and football goalkeeping.  Four residents who received the BOX instructor qualification then went on to set up a local club in the Beech Community Hub.

"Setting up the boxing club has been brilliant as we hope to build bridges in the community and keep youngsters off the street.Claire, Swan Housing Resident
We are delighted with the project outcome so far and we will continue to work with SportInspired to add further social value in our community.
