Physical activity plays an important role in the prevention of becoming overweight and obese from childhood though to adulthood, while physical inactivity is the root cause for a myriad of problems and British children are among the most inactive in the world.

While, children growing up in poverty are more likely to suffer from low self-esteem and to be socially isolated. If not addressed, possible issues for a young person who is inactive such as obesity, low self worth, depression and anti-social behaviour as examples are likely to be exacerbated.
