Charlie Smith

Role: Chairman

Charlie Smith is the Managing Director of International Development, Strategy and Technology at Scottish Enterprise. His career has spanned 17 years working in marketing, sales, and product management for businesses such as BT, Orange, Vodafone, the Royal Bank of Scotland, and OVO Energy.

Motivations for working at SI: Charlie is originally from Edinburgh and takes a keen interest in social enterprises. He is very proud to be a teammate with SportInspired where he says he was “...blown away by the energy, innovation, and purpose displayed by the team.”

He is a hugely a positive factor here at SportInspired, helping kids get the same opportunities he had growing up. Charlie recognises that sport and the role models he met along the way played a huge part in his development and wants to share that with communities across the country.

Peter Thomond

Peter Thomond is the Managing Director and Founder of Clever Together and Co-Founder of SportInspired. He has worked with companies across the world and holds a PhD from Cranfield University in the field of innovation and strategy.

Inspired by the power which sport had to help him overcome difficulty in his childhood, Pete enjoys bringing sport and healthy living to others – especially young people – as the benefits are infinite, opening doors to a life-time of positive action.

Today, Pete supports leaders to transform their approaches to change and strategic planning, through staff and stakeholder engagement – well managed open innovation. Given his passion, for health and care Pete likes to focus extensively on the UK healthcare sector.

Michelle Blayney

Michelle is Culture and Best Team Director at Lloyds Banking Group.

Through her career, Michelle has been immersed in financial services, across Private Banking, Retail Banking and Insurance.

Michelle thrives on igniting performance through a coaching culture and brings her passionate for development of others and outstanding track record of growing high performing teams to supporting SportInspired develop and maintain quality in our Young Leader development programmes. With aligned values of high standards and disciplines to deliver results.

Linda Hindle 

Linda is a trained dietitian and her career has spanned various health, academic and local authorities in the Midlands and now nationwide. Currently Linda is the Lead Allied Health Professional and National Engagement Lead for Police, Fire and Ambulance services with Public Health England where she is responsible for increasing the contribution of the 14 allied health professions, police, fire and ambulance service staff to improving public health across England, as well as supporting some of the national prevention programmes coordinated by Public Health England.

As a member of the British Dietetic Association’s England Board, Linda brings rigour and credibility to our nutrition programmes to support our mission to empower young people to live healthier lives.

Supratim Mukherjee

Supratim is an accomplished communications and marketing leader with cross-sectoral experience across emerging and developed markets. Supratim has honed his expertise over 17 years, building and delivering highly effective marketing and communication campaigns, from global Financial Services corporations to cutting-edge grassroots NGO tackling human trafficking in remote rural communities.

He brings his vast expertise to support SportInspired to ensure more people hear about the brilliant work we’re doing through fun, exciting and impactful marketing and communications.

Gemma Bourne 

Gemma is an Investment Director at Big Society Capital. 

Gemma specialises in developing and implementing transformative strategies for business to deliver profit with purpose and is particularly interested in social sustainability community work and mental wellbeing.  She is trained as a Mental Health First Aider with MHFA England and brings her knowledge, expertise and insight to our mental wellbeing programmes.

Gemma is a fantastic support as we continue to develop the impact of our community programmes across the UK.
